The Client
The Buttonwood Company (TBCo.) is a real estate lifestyle company that creates beautiful, experiential environments in homes, by transforming ordinary spaces with unrealized potential into rental properties and residential flips.
They approached me in need of an identity that would convey their modern, simplistic, and inviting ethos. The brand likewise needed to convey these feelings across each of their properties’ identities as well.
The Process
Founded during Hurricane Dorian, TBCo. got its name from the buttonwood tree, a tree that withstood the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, a place where the owners of TBCo. have a home. After the storm passed, the buttonwood tree still stood bringing hope and light at the worst of times. TBCo. believes in seeing potential in homes even when they are in the worst shape.
Knowing the tree would be a central theme in the logo, I started exploring variations of tree illustrations and typefaces that evoke the same elements of hope and light. Pairing these combination the two elements to showcase the authentic and modern talent of TBCo.
